Eva Chruma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Chruma, was born in Creston, Ia., on February 7, 1869, and died at the home of her son, Wesley, near Iowa City, Ia., on August 19, 1949, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 12 days. When a child, she with her parents, brothers and sisters moved to a farm three miles southwest of Cuba. Here she grew to womanhood. She was one of 14 children and endured the hardships of pioneer days. On October 15, 1887, she was united in marriage to James Benyshek and three children, Frances, Alfred and Wesley, were born to this union. With the exception of a few years spent in Cuba, the Benysheks spent their lives on the farm, until April, 1948, when they moved to Iowa City, Ia. Mrs. Benyshek was of cheerful disposition, generous: always helping and doing for others. She was preceded in death by their son, Alfred, who served in World War I and died August 27, 1920. Survivors her invalid husband of Iowa City, a Daughter Mrs. Bart W. Shulda of Cuba; a son, Wesley, Iowa City; six grandchildren; three, great-grandchildren; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the community hall in Cuba on Monday, August 22, with Joseph Krhounek, sr., in charge. Interment was in National cemetery near Cuba.
