      Joseph Havel was born January 14, 1855, at Stupno Czechoslovakia, and died at Cuba, Kan., August 7, 1934,

      He was united in marriage to Josephine Krotz in Bohemia in 1876. A short time after their marriage they came to America then to Kansas and settled on a farm three miles east and one and one-half south of Cuba. To this union were born 13 children; 4 of whom with their mother preceded their father in death. Mrs. Havel passed away in 1921.

      The surviving children are; James of Woodbine, Kan., Joe of Agenda, Frank of the home, Milek of Narka, Albert and Tony of Cuba, Mrs. Frances Wiruth of Concordia, Mrs. Barbara Klimek of Manhattan, Mrs. Rose Anderson of Omaha. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Joe Benyshek, sr., and one brother, Anton Havel, both of Cuba; a number of grandchildren and other relatives and friends who sadly mourn their loss.

      Funeral services were conducted at the home by Stanley Zakostelsky of Narka. Burial was made in (Kopsa) National Bohemian Cemetery near Cuba, Kansas.
