Josie P. Trecek, daughter of Frank and Barbara Popelka, was born in Missouri on March 18, 1886 and died November 11,1975 at Pawnee City, Nebr. She lived her younger days in the Belle Plaine, Iowa vicinity. On January 31, 1910 she was united in marriage to Milek Trecek. They bought a farm one and one-half miles northeast of Cuba, Kansas. They moved to a farm near DuBois, Nebraska in 1952 and for the last 2 years she lived at the Pawnee City Manor. Preceding her in death were both her parents, her husband, and three brothers; Joe, Rudolph, and Charles. Surviving her departure are her three sons; Ben of Pawnee City Manor, Leon and Lad of DuBois, five brothers and sisters; Robert and Emma Popelka, Agnes Novak, Albina Houdek of Munden, Kansas, and Will Popelka of Belleville, five grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 13,1975 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist church, DuBois, Nebr., with Rev. Ward Merritt and Rev. T. J. Fraser, officiating.
