      Leon L. Winbinger, son of Charlie and Tracy Sedlacek Winbinger was born near Cuba, on December 25, 1905, and died at Republic County hospital, Belleville at the age of 68 years, seven months and 15 days. He lived his entire life in Republic County. He attended Bates School and was a graduate of Cuba high school. On June 6,1928 he was united in marriage to Frances A. Baxa at St. Isidore church, Cuba and to this union two children were born, Sister Leo Frances Winbinger C.S.J, and Charles Lee Winbinger. He was a member of St. Edwards church of Belleville, and served on the church committee for nine years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for almost 50 years, 4 degree. He was past Faithful Navigator. He was a member of the Belleville Eagle Lodge No. 3281 and the Belleville Elks Lodge No. 2209 and had served as an officer in both lodges. He served on the School Board for 12 years. He played in the Cuba high school band, Cuba city band, Belleville city band, and the Knight of Columbus Band. He farmed for many years, and had worked on the township roads and was employed by the Melton Motor Compamy for the past 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant grandson. He is survived by his wife, Frances of the home, one daughter, Sister Leo Frances Winbinger, C.S.J, of Concordia, one son, Charles Lee Winbinger of Omaha, Nebr. one brother, Edward Winbinger of Cuba, four grandchildren, Beth, Matthew, Deborah and Kristine of Omaha, Nebr. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 20, 1974 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward's Catholic church of Belleville, conducted by Fathers Maurice Dion, Raymond Pachta and Jean Oboary. Interment was made in Belleville cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary was held Monday, Aug. 19, 1974 at 7:30 p.m.

      Thresa (Tracy) Winbinger was born April 28, 1884 to John and Anna Sedlacek near Cuba, Kansas. She died at her home near Cuba on November 24, 1965 at the age of 81. She attended the schools of Republic County. On June 20, 1904, she was united in marriage to Charles Winbinger. To this union were born two sons, Edward and Leon. They spent their entire life in and around the Cuba community. Thresa was a member of St. Edwards Church of Belleville and St. Edwards Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters. Her survivors include her two sons, Edward of Cuba, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Winbinger of Belleville; two brothers, Lodis of Haddam, and Henry of Cuba; one sister, Mrs. Albina Plevka of Munden; two grandchildren. Sister Leo Frances, Chicago, Ill., and Charles of Omaha, Neb., several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 27, 1965 at St. Edwards Catholic Church of Belleville, conducted by Father August Moeder. Interment was in St. Katherine Cemetery.
