      Edward F. Havel12/16/2010NARKA -- Edward F. Havel, 81, of rural Narka, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, in Belleville. He was born Nov. 18, 1929, in rural Cuba, the son of Frank M. and Anna (Plevka) Havel. He served with the United States Navy as a pilot for 24 years, until his retirement. On Sept. 21, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary G. Close. He was a member of William Fleming American Legion Post 345, Cuba, a lifetime member of the VFW, Republic County Czech Club and Narka Presbyterian Church, Narka. He is survived by his wife, Mary G. Havel, of rural Narka; two daughters, Deborah L. Huff, of Sacramento, Calif., and Angela M. Havel, of Imperial, Neb.; a son, Edward F. Havel Jr., of Saratoga, Calif.; two grandchildren, Vanessa Huff and Dustin Huff; a great-grandchild, Cody Huff; and a sister, Katherine Wilber and husband Don, of Belleville. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Presbyterian Church, Cuba, followed by interment in Kopsa Cemetery, rural Cuba, with military rites provided by William Fleming American Legion Post 345, Cuba.       Anna R Plevka Havel was born September 9, 1905, at Wayne, to William and Anna Goldstein Plevka, and died June 28, 1990, at Republic County Hospital at the age of 84 years, nine months, 19 days. She grew up on a farm near Wayne and attended Turkey Creek School. On March 16, 1927, she was married to Frank M Havel. They made their home on a farm southeast of Cuba. To this union were born two children. In 1984 she moved to Belleville. She suffered a stroke in 1989 and had resided in Belleville Health Care Center most of the year. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank in 1979. She is survived by her son, Edward Havel of Narka; her daughter, Mrs. Don (Katherine) Wilber of Belleville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Kristy Lojka. Funeral services were held July 3 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, with Rev. Roy Brotton officiating. Burial was in National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery.
