      Joseph Shepek, son of Frank and Elizabeth Shepek, was born on a farm near Cuba, Kan., Nov. 22, 1882 and died at the Republic County Hospital on Aug. 3, 1968. He was 85 years, eight months and 11 days of age.

      He received his education in the Cuba vicinity and helped on the farm of his parents. On Jan. 5, 1904 he was united in marriage to Emma Krob. Two children were born to them. He farmed in the Cuba and Wayne areas until 1953 when they retired to Belleville. Mr. and Mrs. Shepek were members of the ZCBJ Lodge of Cuba for over 60 years.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Frank, Mike, Milek and Charley; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Leshovsky, Mrs. Barbara Kalivoda, Mrs. Mary Krob, Mrs. Anna Plevka and Mrs. Frances Skocny.

      Surviving are his wife of the home; son, Joe and wife of Belleville; one daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Lindahl, Belleville; three grandsons, two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

      Funeral services were held in the Tibbetts Bros. Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karl Schuster and Rev. J. W. Frint officiating. Interment was in the Belleville cemetery.

After the ceremony the happy couple returned to the home of the bride's parents where a score or more of relatives and friends had gathered to wish them a happy journey thru life.       Emma Shepek, daughter of Frank and Anna Krob, was born August 10, 1887, on a farm southwest of Cuba. On January 5, 1904, she was united in marriage to Joseph Shepek. They lived on a farm north of Wayne Ks., until 1953 when they retired and moved to Belleville. They were the parents of two children, Mr. Joe H. Shepek, and Mrs. Frances Lindahl, both of Belleville. They celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary in 1964. She was preceded in death be husband in August of 1968. two brothers, Charley and Frank, and two sisters, Anna Krob and Frances Mottl. Those left to mourn her loss are her sister, Mrs. Mary Krasny of Cuba, Mrs. Shepek's children Joe H. Shepek and Frances Lindahl; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Belleville Garden Club, the Cuba Bohemian Lodge, and the A.A.R.P. Funeral services were held from Tibbetts Bros Chapel, Belleville, Kansas, with Pastor Gary Waite and Rev. John W. Frint officiating. Burial was in the Belleville Cemetery.
