    • Frank Ora Applegate was born in this community August 5, 1881, and passed away at his home November 12, 1932, at 5:40 ?.m. His age at the time of his death was 51 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

      He was the oldest son of Sylvester and Martha Applegate. His father preceded him in death some 4 years ago.

      He was united in marriage to Carrie Smith October 8, 1905. And to this union 5 children were born, namely, Mildred Applegate King of Bloomington, Cecil, Everett, Smith and Keith at home.

      His departure from this life will be deeply felt by the immediate family. Others who will mourn his loss are his mother whom he visited often, and his brothers and sisters, Stella Applegate Crossman, George, Ruth Applegate Guthrie & Ruby Applegate, all of Nebo, Myrtle Applegate Rains of Roodhouse, IL, Fred Applegate of Abingdon, IL & Ada Applegate Neese of Pleasant Hill, IL. One brother, Leroy, died at the age of eight months. He also leaves a host of relatives and friends.

      His life was an open book and his character was outstanding in the community where he spent his entire life. He was an student of the Bible and having spent many years in the study and discussion thereof. He became a wonderful Bible student, and was interesting and firm yet pleasant and agreeable in the discussion of Bible topics. He possessed an abundance of faith in Jehovah God, and firmly believed in life after death and that Jesus Christ gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

      The following is one of his favorite quotations: "But we see Jesus who was made a little lower than the Angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man." Heb. 2:9.
