      Stella Zacek Beneda, daughter of Joseph and Marie Zacek, was born on a farm southeast of Cuba, Kan., July 19, 1888, and passed away at her home southwest of Agenda, Kan., March 28, 1956, at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 9 days.

      She received her education in her home school district known as the "White School." On February 22, 1910, she was united in marriage to Joseph Beneda and spent her entire wedded life on a farm southwest of Agenda. This union was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughter. She was preceded in death by her mother in June 1926, and her father in 1938, two brothers, Joseph in 1944, Adam in August 1955, two sisters, Josie in 1947 and Mary in 1944 and two grandsons, Eldon Gene Makalous in September 1944 and Darrell Eugene Beneda in June 1948.

      Surviving and mourning her loss are her husband, Joe Beneda of Clyde; two sons, Earnest J. of Cuba and Frank C. of Clyde; two daughter, Mrs. Helen Makalous and Mrs. Olive Havel; sons-in law, Lawrence Makolous and Leon E. Havel; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Shulda and Mrs. Emma Blazek of Cuba and Mrs. Rose Barnett of Wichita; one brother, Frank Zacek of Topeka and a host of friends.

      Her chief interest in life was her family and her home. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, a wonderful neighbor and friend to everyone. She was a quiet and patient sufferer through her long illness and had cheerfully borne her burden to the end. By the loved ones of her home she shall be mourned and by the great circle of neighbors and precious friends she shall be sadly missed

      Funeral services were held at the Cuba Presbyterian church with Rev. G.N. Hoerner officiating. Interment was made in the Kopsa cemetery. Plot: Sec. D-Lot 9

      Joseph Zacek was born July 3, 1847 in Bohemia, Europe and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Blazek, near Cuba, August 28, 1938 at the age of 91 years, 1 month, and 25 days. In the year l872 he was married to Marie Wiruth. To this union were born nine children, all of whom survive. His wife preceded him in death on June 3, 1926. Those left to mourn his loss are: three sons, Adam of Cuba, Joe of Clyde, and Frank of Agenda; six girls, Mary Blazek and Emma Blazek of Cuba, Stella Beneda of Agenda, Rose Barnett of Osage City, Betty Shulda and Josie Kasha of Cuba; 34 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one brother Ondrey Zacek of Czechosovakia, Europe. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock from the home with the Rev. Kovar officiating. Interment was made in the Kopsa cemetery.
