Amos Hubka, sr., was horn November 22, 1857, at Kozlanech, Slovakia, and died at his home in Narka, Kan., August 4, 1922, at the age of 74 years 8 months and 12 days. He came to this country with his parents in the year 1866 to Du Bois, Pawnee county, Nebraska. In the year 1879 he was united in marriage to Anna Novotny and they made their home on a farm near Du Bois where they resided 22 years. They then moved to a farm near Narka, Republic county, Kansas. In the year 1915 they moved to a home in Narka. His wife preceded him in death 5 months ago. He leaves to mourn his loss, his sons, Charley of Mahaska, Fred, address unknown, Amos, jr., of Eagle Butte, S. D., Bohman of Haddam, Kan., Stanley of Narka, August of Mahaska, and Rudolph of Pawnee City, Neb.; a son Lloyd preceded him in death eight ydars ago; daughters, Emma Peterka, of Narka, Mary Berabek of Pawnee City, Neb., Anna Cerny of Narka, and Millie Padojil of Eagle Butte, S. D.; 25 grand children; and 3 great grandchildren; and also a brother Joe of Wilber, Neb. He was a member of the Z. C. B. J. lodge No. 125. The funeral services were held at his home and were attended by a host of relatives and friends. Frank Dobrovotny of Pawnee City, Neb., had charge of the services and S. J. Zakostelsky of Narka, Kan., had charge of the Z. C. B. J. lodge service. Interment was in the Kasha cemetery south of Narka.
