    Text Ben Bamett, son of Louis and Rosa Zacek Bamett, was bom January 9, 1914, near Reading, Kans., and died September 25, 1986, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, at the age of 72 years, eight months and 16 days.

    His father died in the flu epidemic of 1918 when he was not quite five years old and at the age of seven he began working out at small farm jobs to help his mother support the family. He later worked for other fanners and at other jobs in the Reading area, while also helping his mother on their farm.

    He received his elementary education in the Osage and Republic County rural schools. He attended Reading High School for one year.

    He was united in marriage to Harriet Kroti on August 31, 1939, and to this union one son, Ben Eugene was bom. His wife died May 23, 1961.

    He was united in marriage to Nettie Martin on March 10, 1962.

    He moved to Cuba in 1937 and to the present farm home west of Cuba in 1939. He continued hiring out for farm work and as a fann machinery mechanic for several years, while also fanning for himself.

    He was a member of the Republic County Czech Club.

    He was preceded in death by liis father, his mother in 1980 and his first wife in 1961.

    He is survived by his wife, Nettie of the home; one son. Gene of Concordia; one step-daughter, Mrs. Tom (Anne) Wamsley of Easton Rapids, Mich.; three grandchildren, Linda, Jenny and Darrel Bamett; one step-granddaughter, Shana Cartwright; one brother, Lewis of Lebo, Kans.; several cousins.

    Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church of Cuba on September 29, conducted by Rev. Tom Ballard. Interment was in National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery.
